![]() | In 1955 the Grey Cup was held in Vancouver BC. CNR ran several Grey Cup Specials in addition to its regular trains to bring fans to and from the big game. Harry Home has loaned me a couple of train registers from that year for Red Pass Jct and they show the action beginning on November 24th, 1955. What is particularly interesting is the first appearance this far west of U-1-f Mountain “Bullet Nose Betty” locomotives including the 6060, 6067, 6073 and 6075. The U-1 6013, 6044 and 6046 were assigned or regulars at Jasper and probably took over from U-1-f locomotives for the trip west, but 6060 and 6073 ran through probably as far as Kamloops on 7/1 and 2/3 on November 25th and returned east on 3/4 and 4/4 on November 27th. The 6500s (FP9A) and 6700s (FPA2) were the regular power on 1-2 Super Continental and 3-4 Continental operating through to Vancouver from Montreal and Toronto Below is the action at Red Pass Junction |
