In 2009 CN acquired the railway equipment used by the Ski Train between Denver and Winter Park, CO when that operating closed down. Included were three former Amtrak F40PH locomotives. Some sources refer to these locomotives as model F40PHR as when they were built they used some parts from SDP40F locomotives that Amtrak traded in to EMD. The Ski Train equipment was used to re-equip the Agawa Canyon Tour Train which operated north of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, on the former Algoma Central Railway.
