Locomotive derailed on the Birdtail River bridge, fell into the river and burned.CN GP7 4804, GP7 4819, and F7 9108 were also involved in the accident. All locomotives were buried on site along with remains of about 20 cars. In 1996 some of the wreckage was excavated and removed to Mandak Metals in Selkirk MB.
