CN 5370 was the only locomotive pulling a string of hoppers in Winnipeg MB when struck an empty
articulated grain truck at a level crossing and pushed it several hundred metres, 28 January 2004.
The truck driver jumped before the accident. The locomotive suffered little damage

While leading CN 5329 pulling a west-bound freight, struck a truck carrying a front-end loader and cherry-picker, driving it into the path on on-coming VIA train 68.
Locomotive 5382 remained upright but lost its wheels and suffered extensive damage.

On 12 August 1999 while westbound near Watford ON, 5386 was struck by struck by a defective side ladder on an eastbound train on the adjacent track. The side ladder was on a multi-level car that had come loose at the top but was still fastened at the bottom.
Both trains were travelling at speed but no one was injured.
The front door on 5386 broke as well as the two small front windows and number boards.

5388GF-30x1978199524 April 2000owned by Ontario Hydro. Used by CP and painted CP orange with nose striping (CP 5779) due to an long term contract with CP to hault coal to thermal plants in Ontario. In mid-1996, the contract was given to CN, and so was this locomotive. All CP markings were painted out and just the CN road number was added. roams system wide and are not restricted to coal trains.
At one point, 5388 or one of her sisters showed up at Taschereau Montreal yards for maintenance and the workers there thought it was truly a CP locomotive sent to them by error.
It was routed over to the CP shops at St-Luc who had a good laugh and sent it back.To avoid mistaking it for a CP unit again, the CN noodle was painted below the road numbers on the sides of the cab bought by a dealer and re-sold to CP mid-2000
