At the highway crossing at Kinsella, AB, the train struck a truck carrying light crude oil. Nothing derailed, but the train crew and truck driver were all killed.
5418 suffered severe external burns and spent considerable time in repair before being returned to service

5432GF-636a1985August 16th 2008On 31 January 1999, 5432 was trailing 5410 and followed by a dead 2452 eastbound into Jasper. One traction motor on 5432 was not working, a fact known by maintenance crews, but not by the locomotive crew
Rounding a curve coming into Jasper yard they saw 5257 and GCFX 6064 switching on the track ahead of them.
They applied the dynamic brakes but these did not work fast enough, since the dead traction motor meant that the dynamic brake efficiency was reduced in the consist.
The crew bailed out, the locomotives struck head on, and derailed and 5432 was repaired and returned to service
