A trio of SD40s, all wearing the 1974 “stripes” paint scheme lead a freight train south on the Camrose Subdivision towards Calgary. The train came off the Wainwright Subdivision at Bretville Junction, Mile 260.2, just east of the North Saskatchewan River on the east side of Edmonton. Lead locomotive NO. 5126 is one of the relatively small number of CN SD40s to be equipped with dynamic brakes. No. 5126 was built by GMD in December 1969 and was assigned builder’s no. A2385. It was retired on October 15, 1998. It was sold to Progress Rail, then went to leasing company Railcar Limited as RMGX No. 5126 before becoming part of the CIT Group lease fleet as CEFX No. 3107.
